Mihyun Kim

Korean artist Mihyun Kim was born in Korea and majored in Korean traditional painting. She works on the basis of various art techniques she has studied at the art high school and University. It mainly combines modern concepts and traditional Korean art techniques to present a work called 'The Time of Heaven'. [read more] She tries to express the heaven that is already experienced in the daily lives of those who wish for heaven. Already, many people tend to think of the word heaven as a concept of a place that is often shining, beautiful, and far from reality. However, the heaven that the artist wants to talk about is not a concept of a far distant place, but very everyday moments that can be fully experienced in the present reality. She reinterprets and expresses a part of the 'present' of the 'Mongyudowondo' depicting Anpyeongdaegun's dream by Angyeon by reinterpreting the modern method. In addition, through qualitative interviews with people who enjoy heaven in their daily lives, the moments of heaven they experienced were collected. Those who responded to the interview were experiencing heaven through fellowship and loving relationships with those who looked to God when they were weak and humbled. This is expressed as a space enjoying heaven or an image of sheep and flowers. The artist draws heaven and hopes that those who do not enjoy heaven will know and enjoy the heaven that is already near.
